I create and host experiences in Los Angeles: concerts at Walt Disney Concert Hall, late-night explorations of creativity, installations that invite people to play, and films scored for Sundance, PBS, and MSNBC.

Music is the foundation of my work, but it goes beyond that. What ties it together is a love of creating experiences with enough structure for people to take part, and enough openness for them to connect their own dots.

I’m a Sundance Institute Composer Fellow, with grants and awards from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Ford Foundation, The ASCAP Foundation, and the American Music Center. I’ve designed and hosted concerts, gatherings, and installations for the Los Angeles Philharmonic, The Kennedy Center, The Music Center of Los Angeles County, the Sundance Institute, the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA), and more.

As a drummer, there's an open question I keep returning to: what if the
most important part of playing happens in the air, between the notes? I'm writing a book about the body, physics, neuroscience, and attention: a way of being more than a method. With graphic designer Jeanie Chong, I'm exploring how the design itself can carry the book's philosophy. Can it feel like the thing it's teaching?
